Commissioning artowrk can be an intimidating yet exciting experience. I love working with my clients to ensure we capture their vision and create something that enhances the space it is made for. Here is a bit below about the process of commissioning me:
How it works:
STEP 1: Your vision
I typically start by asking what it is you are envisioning for the work. Size, colors, materials etc. any details you have will help me determine a price and timeline estimate. Here are some things to start thinking about that with that will help me capture your vision:
- Examples of works I've done that you like
- Pictures of the space you want to hang our new artwork with wall sizes
- Pictures of surrounding decor that you want to match
- Colors you like
- Budget range
We will discuss what you are looking for and if it is something I think I can do!
STEP 2: Estimate
Once we have the general idea of what you are looking for, I will provide a price and timeline estimate for the artwork. Commissions can take anywhere from 3-8 weeks, depending on size, materials etc.
STEP 3: Deposit and paperwork
Once everything has been agreed on, I will I ask for a 50% deposit, this will allow me to purchase all the materials needed for your new piece of artwork. I will also send a commission agreement that protects both parties and ensures that you'll get your artwork! Once the deposit is paid and paperwork is signed, I will get started!
STEP 4: Progress update
I like to keep my clients in the loop, depending on your project I'll send you color samples and early sketches to make sure I am capturing your vision. You'll have the opportunity to give me feedback, or if you prefer a hands off approach, you can sit back and relax as I let my creative freedom flow.
STEP 5: Shipping
Once your artwork is complete and the final invoice is payed I will ship your new artwork to the preferred address that you provided and follow-up with a tracking code. Your artwork will be carefully packaged so that it arrives safely.
